Last Wednesday, Krístofer and Viðar, two members of the Icelandic Red Cross, visited us at Eldhestar in order to give us a refreshment course in First aid. This course reminded us of the right procedu
res in an accident, how to attend to smaller wunds during the tour and when to get the help of medical educated staff. Even though all of us hope that it will not be neccessary for us to apply this knowledge in any serious situation, this was a great opportunity for us to get their professional input on our work with horses and people. Also, we got to try resuscitation procedures during an accident as you can see on the picture, as well as other procedures to help people with all kinds of medical problems. This First Aid course gave us also the opportunity to gather all staff members together for a picture, an opportunity that will not occure so fast again. Only our prakticant Veronika and Hróðmar are missing, who had to leave earlier.

Our horses are also preparing for the summer, which means in their case to get into shap
e for the long tours. Therefore, we are not only riding each of them but also send them every day on a small jogging tour around our fields. “The ring” as we call it will gradually increase in lengh so all horses have a good condition when our first Tour 12 “Golden Circle of the South” starts on June 10th. On the picture, you see some impressions of this “jogging tour” for our horses.
