Today is already September 20 and the autumn has started. A busy and very successful Summer 2011 lies behind us and we at Eldhestar would like to say thank you to all our guests for spending your vacations with us. We hope you enjoyed your time with us and we are happy to welcome you back on our farm Vellir. On the picture, you can see our last long tour “Golden Highlights of the South” returning to our farm and taking some extra rounds on the oval track.
While the sun is very generous with us during the day, we can also see the first signs of the
upcoming winter. The nights are very clear and cold in the moment- high season for the famous Nordic lights. Elon took a very impressive picture of the Aurora Borealis above our stable.
Now in the autumn, work at Eldhestar tends to be a bit slower than during the summer. There are no more long tours and we emphasize more on breaking in and training horses for the upcoming season.
While many of our more experienced horses have moved to winter pasture on a field about 15 minutes from our farm, the first youngsters arrived last week.
Last but not least there are some news from our future riding hall. The excavators and drilling machines arrived in the end of August and started to prepare the foundation pit for our riding hall. We also signed a contract last week with Límtré ehf., who will build the hall with laminated timber instead of steal girders, an environmental friendlier method of building.
