Eldhestar's horses
Welcome to our new category on the Eldhestar webpage. All pages under this category are dedicated to our horses. Here you can find all informations related the horses on our farm.
Eldhestar owns about 230 horses. During the winter, about 90 horses are kept at the farm, and the rest stays on different fields in all South- Iceland. 38 
horses are kept in the stable for the daily work and training. The rest of the horses are kept outside in a field with wind shelter. These horses just come in and work when big groups are coming, the rest of the time they are resting in the field.
During the summer, we need altogether more than 350 horses for our tours and we rent and hire horses from farms in the area. There are horses that have spent each summer with us for many years. After the summer, they go back to their owners who ride the horses for example on the sheep round- up in September.
